If you’ve left a tall, silver monolith in the remote Utah desert, it’s been found.
The Utah Department of Public Safety said Monday the agency’s Aero Bureau found a very mysterious object while conducting a count of big horn sheep last week in Red Rock County, located in the southeastern part of the state.

The monolith, as it’s being called, echoes Stanley Kubrick’s brilliant "2001: A Space Odyssey," where a tall, alien monolith is a central part in the film’s plot and most famous scenes.
It was found in "a remote area of red rock" with "no obvious indication of who might have put the monolith there." Officials have declined to release the exact location of the object, citing safety concerns for anyone trying to visit such a remote place.

"It is illegal to install structures or art without authorization on federally managed public lands, no matter what planet you’re from," a statement read.
No one (from Earth or elsewhere) has come forward to claim it, yet.
