Weeks after her historic 40-game “Jeopardy!” winning streak came to an end, Schneider has disclosed she’s quit her job as a software engineer and will concentrate on being a public figure.

"Some of you may have heard, but I quit my day job yesterday!" the 42-year-old Oakland, California resident tweeted on Tuesday.

"It's a bit nerve-wracking to pivot from software engineer to... public figure, I guess?” Schneider added. “But regardless of the outcome I'm so excited to spend the next couple years at least tackling this new challenge!"

Schneider’s historic run saw her become the second winningest contestant in "Jeopardy!" history, trailing only Ken Jennings. Now one of the co-hosts of “Jeopardy,” Jennings holds the record with 74 consecutive wins in 2004.

When Schneider’s run came to an end on January 26th, the Ohio native’s winnings totaled $1,382,800.

In a New York Times interview last week, Schneider shared the new opportunities being presented to her in the wake of her “Jeopardy!” run.

"I'm having a lot of meetings with my agent, which is such a weird thing to hear myself say, but it's true," she said. "I signed with CAA (Creative Artists Agency) and they're excited about all kinds of different things and I'm just trying to drink from the firehose of what they’re trying to talk about."

One possible endeavor on her horizon is writing a book.

"I'm trying to put together a book proposal to see if that gets interest," she added. "That just really needs my focus. I'm really excited about it. The chance to put all the stuff I’ve been thinking my whole life into a book is kind of exciting."
