Mindy Kaling is excited to see how fans will react to “Legally Blonde 3.”
In a new interview with Access, Kaling gave fans an update on what they can expect when watching the new movie.
“So, I’m writing it with my friend Dan Goor, who created 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine,' and I just, I love the franchise so much,” Kaling said. “I love Elle Woods as a character and when Reese asked me to write it I was like, ‘Absolutely!’ “
“I can’t wait to see what people will think of the way we wrote Elle Woods. We wrote Elle Woods at 40, so how Elle is at 40 versus how she was at 21 has been really fun to imagine,” Kaling said.
“I don’t know when we’ll be able to shoot movies again, but it would be great to, if Reese likes the script, shooting it this year would be awesome,” she added.

Kaling made sure that fans know when they watch the movie, they will see some references to the iconic moments both in “Legally Blonde” and “Legally Blonde 2.”
“Bend and Snap is forever,” Kaling said. “We definitely have a lot of fan favorites from the original movie.”
In May, it was announced that Mindy Kaling would co-write the film, which will see Reese Witherspoon reprising her iconic role of Elle Woods.

Witherspoon took to social media to share her excitement.
“Some things are just meant to be! I’m SOOO excited to have @mindykaling and @djgoor writing Legally Blonde 3!,” the 44-year-old tweeted. “This is #ElleWoodsApproved!”
Back in 2018, Witherspoon confirmed the news that a third installment was in the works.
