Gillette Stadium will soon host one of the more pivotal Jets-Patriots games we've seen in a while.

Robert Saleh’s squad sits at 6-3 this season, tied with the Bills and just behind the 7-3 Miami Dolphins in the AFC East standings. Their defense is stellar and the offense, despite some question marks around Zach Wilson, is complete enough to win the games – even after the Breece Hall injury.

New England beat the Jets on the road 22-17 in Week 8. With the two sides set to meet in Foxboro this Sunday, Pats head coach Bill Belichick was asked in his weekly interview on the “Greg Hill Show” about Wilson and the Jets.

“I don’t know how you can not see (the success), they’ve won six games,” Belichick said. “(Wilson is) really athletic, has a good arm, made a lot of big plays for them with his legs and arm. They use a lot of on-the-line decision-making with the quarterback, RPOs and checks, things like that. The Jets are a good team, they have a lot of good players. He’s one of them.”

Both teams are coming off their bye weeks, and Sunday's game that will have a big impact on the AFC East standings. With the Dolphins on their bye in Week 11, a win for the Jets would put them at the top of the AFC East.

Even if the Bills, who, like the Jets are 6-3, win against the Cleveland Browns, the Jets at present hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over both Buffalo and Miami.

Conversely, the Patriots are 5-4, and a win would put them with the same record as the Jets. Plus, it would give New England a 2-0 record against New York this season, in turn locking in the head-to-head tiebreaker for seeding. That could be a big deal down the line.

So, plenty to play for Sunday at Gillette.
