Tom Brady and Drew Brees are not just going back and forth in the all-time touchdown and passing yards categories, but also the all-time fantasy point scorer.
On Sunday, Brady surpassed Jerry Rice atop the all-time PPR (point-per reception) fantasy point leaderboard, according to ESPN.
Rice had accumulated 5,141.8 fantasy points from 1985-2005, but both Brady and Brees entered Sunday within striking distance to overtake the Hall of Famer on this unique list.
Brady was able to take ownership of the record, for now, with his 16-yard pass to Antonio Brown in the second quarter of the Bucs’ 46-23 win over the Panthers. He finished the day with 5,164.4 points.
Brees was poised to pass Rice as well, but a rib injury forced him out of the game at halftime just shy of eclipsing the legendary wide receiver. Per ESPN PPR league scoring, Brees finished Sunday with 6.94 points, to givce him 5,141.34 points, which is .5 shy of Rice's mark.
The two continue to defy age and each have another year left on their contracts as both future Hall of Famers will continue to duke it out for the forseeable future on where they land on each of these all-time lists.
