The tributes are pouring in for Dennis Eckersley on the morning of his final Red Sox broadcast for NESN, including from longtime partner Don Orsillo.
In a video posted Tuesday, Orsillo, who’s called games for the Padres since 2016, praised Eckersley’s candor.
ESPN's reporting on Ime Udoka keeps raising questions

“You are the most honest, sincere person I know. Your candor sometimes has not always been appreciated by players, but it was always real, and the truth,” said Orsillo.
Orsillo and Eckersley worked their first game together in 2003, teaming up throughout the years as Jerry Remy battled through various health and familial issues. They also occasionally called postseason games together on TBS, last pairing up in 2018.
Orsillo-Remy-Eckersley are a beloved holy trinity of Red Sox broadcasting. Orsillo recently celebrated his 3,000th game behind the microphone.
“I love you, Eck. Best to you and Jeniffer in what’s next,” he said. “Now you’re a fossil … with educated cheese.”
Perfect.
