The Bruins have their 22-man opening day roster ahead of Tuesday night's regular-season opener against the Panthers in Florida. Every NHL team had until 5 p.m. Monday to get down to a cap-compliant 23-man roster, but Boston stuck at 22 for cap purposes.
Here is the Bruins' roster:
Forwards (13): Johnny Beecher, Justin Brazeau, Charlie Coyle, Trent Frederic, Morgan Geekie, Max Jones, Mark Kastelic, Cole Koepke, Elias Lindholm, Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, Riley Tufte, Pavel Zacha
Defensemen (7): Brandon Carlo, Hampus Lindholm, Mason Lohrei, Charlie McAvoy, Andrew Peeke, Parker Wotherspoon, Nikita Zadorov
Goalies (2): Joonas Korpisalo, Jeremy Swayman
Forward Matt Poitras and defensemen Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula will start the season on the Injured Non-Roster list. Poitras practiced in a non-contact jersey Monday and is considered day-to-day as he recovers from an undisclosed injury, but coach Jim Montgomery said he would not be an option for Tuesday night.
Another notable absence here is forward Tyler Johnson. The veteran went through training camp on a professional tryout (PTO), but as of Monday afternoon he had not signed a contract for the season nor been released from his PTO. It is unclear what the Bruins' plans are for him; all Montgomery told reporters on Monday was that he isn't with the team right now.
Cole Koepke and Riley Tufte might be the two surprises here for fans who didn't follow the preseason closely, but both had strong camps -- especially Koepke, who will likely be in the opening night lineup. Both players would require waivers to be sent to AHL Providence.
Speaking of waivers, goalie Brandon Bussi cleared them on Monday and will now report to Providence, while fellow goalie Jiri Patera was reclaimed by the Vancouver Canucks and is no longer with the Bruins.
And speaking of goalies, Montgomery said Monday that Jeremy Swayman, fresh off signing his new $66 million contract, could be an option to start Tuesday. General manager Don Sweeney said Sunday that Joonas Korpisalo would start, but according to Montgomery, no final decision has been made yet.
Here is the Bruins' expected opening night lineup:

Max Jones - Trent Frederic - Justin Brazeau
