The Celtics are swiftly moving past Tuesday’s last two-minute report, which highlighted a pair of erroneous calls favoring the Pacers in the final moments of Boston's narrow 133-131 loss in Indiana on Monday night.
Reflecting on the report during Wednesday's shootaround, Derrick White admitted to finding humor in the situation. “I kinda laughed. But that was about it.” On whether he read the explanation, White dismissed it with a simple, “Nah. That was too many words.”
“It doesn’t change anything,” White added. “Obviously, there's a lot that we should have done to not be in that situation. It didn't change anything. So I just moved on.”
As the grueling January schedule continues, the Celtics find themselves needing to move on. Wednesday night brings a matchup against the league's top-rated defensive team — the Minnesota Timberwolves, who reign supreme in the Western Conference standings at 26-10.
“It's gonna be fun,” White said when discussing Wednesday’s matchup with the Wolves.
“They're playing really well. They’ve got a lot of talent, and the energy is gonna be high, so it's gonna be a fun matchup.”
When the Celtics take to the TD Garden parquet Wednesday night with their perfect 17-0 home record, they will have a chance to make history. With a win, the Celtics would set the franchise record for the most consecutive home wins to start a season. The record (which they have already tied) has stood since the 1957-58 season.
“I mean, yeah, that's pretty cool,” White said when asked if the idea of setting a new franchise record was on his mind. “Obviously, with how great this organization is and how much history, it’s always cool to set a franchise record and try to just keep going. And it's always fun winning at home.”
Wednesday night will also provide the Celtics an opportunity to avenge the team that handed them their first loss of the season.
“Obviously, they got us early in the year, and we want to get back, protect our home court, and get a big win,” White said.
The Celtics are 6-1 when coming off a loss this season. Meanwhile, eight of Minesotta’s 10 losses this season have come on the road.
