Just as intriguing as what will happen with the top five quarterbacks in the NFL Draft is what will happen with Jimmy Garoppolo.

The 49ers are expected to select a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick, and then is it worth paying Garoppolo $26.4 million this season and $27 million in 2022?

On top of that, head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't give much support for his quarterback when speaking earlier this week.

That is why many believe the 49ers will move on him from, with the Patriots being one of the top suitors, but will a trade actually happen?

Multiple reports Thursday morning indicate it's unlikely.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says while multiple teams are expected to inquire about him Thursday, a source tells him the chances of a trade happening are "remote." NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds they do not have plans on trading him "unless the value overwhelms them."

“The wheels are not in motion on anything just yet," NFL Network's Tom Pelissero said on Good Morning Football. "You have one big complicating factor here, Garoppolo has a no-trade clause in his contract that just kicked in last month. So in essence, Garoppolo could scuttle any deal by not agreeing to a restructured contract on the one that is currently due to pay him $25.5 million in 2021.”

As for the Patriots specifically, there was a report the team was working on a new contract for Garoppolo Wednesday night, but that was shot down in multiple places.
