There’s even been plenty of reports and speculation that the Patriots and Beckham might have interest in each other.

As such, a number of New England players were asked for their thoughts on OBJ including the guy who’d be most affected if the receiver somehow landed with the Patriots – rookie quarterback Mac Jones.

“Yeah, I think he’s a great player. He has a choice to make and that’s up to him,” Jones said. “That’s pretty much it.”

Would Jones like to have a guy like that to throw to?

“Yeah, I think we…like I said we have really good receivers here and anybody that wants to help us win is obviously a benefit to the team,” Jones said. “I obviously would leave that up to Coach Belichick and you can ask him about it. Like I said, I know for a fact he always wants people that will come here and help us win. So.”

New England’s current No. 1 wide receiver was similarly asked about the potential of adding an elite talent at his position.

“I think he’s an amazing player,” Nelson Agholor said. “I think he’s an absolutely special talent. And I wish him the best. I love the receivers we have here. And it’s not my position to worry about that. But I wish him well and I know at the end of the day whoever takes him he’s going to do his job and I wish him well because he’s a good player.”

Longtime Patriots captain Devin McCourty was asked if he “was a general manager” would he sign Beckham, but cut that line of questioning off quickly.

“I have no interest. I have no interest in coaching, scouting, general manager, the only interest I might have is if we all put our money together and we could own a team. I’d be interested in that,” McCourty said with a smile before giving his general thoughts on Beckham as a player.

“Really good player. I feel like whatever I say will be like, Headline: ‘McCourty says blah, blah, blah about Odell Beckham joining the Patriots.’ Really good player. Played him a couple times. Have had a couple conversations with him. Seems like a great guy. I’m guessing everyone will be looking at Twitter to see when he makes a decision. Because I think it comes across Twitter before it comes across the transactions list. So, I’ll be waiting for one of you guys to tweet and I’ll see it.”
