The sad football ballad of Robby Anderson continued Sunday, as the speedy wideout was forced to be part of another brutal game from Sam Darnold against the Patriots. The overmatched QB threw three picks, just like the good ol’ days.

This time, Anderson let him have it. The veteran exploded at Darnold on the Carolina side following his final interception of the day: a lazily thrown ball into the end zone that wound up into the hands of J.C. Jackson.

Speaking of Jackson, the corner returned a pick-six for 88 yards earlier in the contest. Anderson was gifted with the pleasure of trying to chase him down.

Darnold’s ineptitude against the Patriots is now an indelible stain on a resume that’s full of low points. Entering Sunday, the Patriots intercepted Darnold six times in three games and only allowed one passing touchdown. In 2019, Darnold was infamously captured saying he was seeing ghosts when the Jets were down 24-0.

Amazingly, Darnold played even worse Sunday, and per usual, Anderson didn’t see much action. He caught just one pass for two yards.

Too bad Anderson didn’t sign with the Patriots last year when he had the chance.

The Temple University standout is in the midst of a brutal campaign, tied for 107th among qualified wideouts in receiving yards. He’s caught just 36% of the passes thrown his way this season for 206 yards in nine games.

Last year, Anderson was able to experience life away with Darnold, and it was amazing for him. He went for 1,000 for a career-high 1,096 yards, just ahead of his 941-yard season in 2017, one year before Darnold was drafted.

Belichick has a reputation for breaking coaches, but now, he’s broken a player. Anderson has probably been stewing about Darnold’s atrocious play for years. Another drubbing from Belichick sent him over the edge.
