With their team on an off day, Red Sox fans had a pretty good alternative when it came to baseball-watching Monday night.

That was thanks to Jack Leiter.

The Vanderbilt ace -- who many believe has a good chance at landing with the Red Sox with the fourth overall in this year's MLB Draft -- struck out 15 in a 1-0, complete game loss to North Carolina State at the College World Series.

The righty, who is the son of former major leaguer Al Leiter, allowed just four hits, although one was a solo homer. For the season he is 10-4 with a 2.08 ERA in 17 starts.

It might have very well been Leiter's last collegiate start, with Vanderbilt facing an elimination game against Stanford Wednesday.

This year's MLB Draft takes place July 11-13.

Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin - a native of Wolfeboro, N.H. - discussed Leiter with WEEI.com prior to this season. For the complete interview, click here.
