Almost immediately after the news broke earlier this month that Danny Ainge was "retiring" from his role as the Celtics' president of basketball operation, there was speculation that a move to the Utah Jazz could be in his future.

Some of that speculation had died down in recent weeks, but now it's back thanks to the Jazz's own front office shakeup that unfolded over the weekend.

Dennis Lindsey is reportedly stepping down from his role as Utah's executive vice president of basketball operations and transitioning to an advisory role, with Justin Zanik set to take over and run the day-to-day basketball opeartions.

The Athletic's Tony Jones cites sources in reporting that Ainge is a candidate to join the Jazz in what would be an advisory role to Zanik.

At the time of his retirement from the Celtics, Ainge said he was looking forward to having some down time and had not yet given much thought to what the future held for him.

Ainge went to college in Utah at Brigham Young University and is an active member of the Mormon Church, which is headquartered in Salt Lake City.

The Jazz were the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference this season, but lost in the second round to the Los Angeles Clippers in six games.

New Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said last week that he was still talking to Ainge regularly and running ideas by him.
