As Bruins fans look for reasons to get excited about the future of the team's forwards, Trevor Kuntar provided one Thursday at Boston's development camp at Warrior Ice Arena.

Kuntar, a 2020 third-round pick, chased down a puck in the neutral zone, blew by a defender, and then went through the legs to flip a shot past the goalie.

Kuntar, who can play center or left wing, had six goals and four assists in 23 games as a freshman at Boston College last season. He played in the Eagles' bottom six last year, but could get an opportunity to move up in the lineup on a team that saw Logan Hutsko graduate and Alex Newhook, Matt Boldy and Mike Hardman all turn pro.

The Bruins like what they've been seeing from Kuntar so far, with coach Bruce Cassidy highlighting him Thursday when asked about his impressions of some of the prospects in camp this week.

"Kuntar, I really like a lot," Cassidy said. "He's got second effort around the net. He really shoots the puck to score. Like his game as a winger. There's always areas in their game with these young guys where they need to get better to play at the pro level, but I like that about him."

"He's clearly a talented kid," said skating and skills coach Kim Brandvold, as transcribed by the Boston Globe. "Getting to know him, he's clearly someone who cares about the game and wants to improve all the time. You can see it in all the stuff we're doing that he's really absorbing things, both in terms of video we're showing off the ice and then the things we’re doing on the ice.

"There's a lot of upside there," Brandvold added. "And getting to know him a little more this week, an exciting young person to work with."
