PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — No one took home the $1.2 billion Powerball jackpot Wednesday night, but there are a few new millionaires in the region.

In New Jersey, three different tickets each matched all five white balls, raking in $1 million apiece. One player, however, will receive double the prize — $2 million — because they played the Power Play multiplier.

The winning tickets were sold in Saddle Brook and Edison, and the $2 million one at a Raceway gas station in Matawan, Monmouth County.

Fifteen other New Jersey players won $50,000 apiece, and one won $100,000.

In Pennsylvania, three Powerball winners claimed $100,000 each. Their tickets matched four of the five white balls. All three were sold in Philadelphia:

• Wawa, 2600 Penrose Ave., South Philadelphia
• ShopRite, 6901 Ridge Ave., Roxborough
• Eddie’s General Store, 2849 Holme Ave., Northeast Philadelphia

In a separate lottery, a store in Philadelphia’s Lawncrest neighborhood sold a $3 million Diamonds and Gold Scratch-Off. L&P Express on Whitaker Avenue gets a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Wednesday night’s Powerball draw was: 2, 11, 22, 35 and 60. The red Powerball number was 23.

With no one taking the top prize, the Powerball jackpot has grown to $1.5 billion, the third-largest lottery prize in U.S. history. No one has won the top Powerball prize since Aug. 3, making for 39 consecutive drawings without anyone matching all six numbers.

The odds of winning the jackpot are an abysmal 1 in 292.2 million. It is because of those long odds that the grand prize has grown so large.

The new $1.5 billion prize is actually for winners who opt for an annuity, paid out annually over 29 years. Nearly all winners choose cash, which for Saturday’s drawing would be $745.9 million.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
