NJ Forest Fire Service has 315-acre wildfire in Brendan T. Byrne State Forest 100% contained

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A wildfire in the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest in Burlington and Ocean counties that had been burning since since Sunday has been 100% contained, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

The fire, near Pasadena Road, reached an area of 315 acres. Fire crews used controlled burns to stop the progress of the wildfire

No injuries were reported. For a brief period on Sunday afternoon, seven structures were threatened by the fire, according to the Forest Fire Service, but by 11 p.m. Sunday, they were determined to be safe.

Some fire personnel will stay behind for some time to monitor the area for public safety and to continue improving containment lines. Be advised that smoke conditions may remain for several hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Forest Fire Service says they do not expect to release any more information about the incident.
