PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three men were injured in a shootout just steps from a SEPTA station in Frankford Thursday night. More than 70 shots were fired.

Police say the shooting was between two groups at Griscom and Arrott streets around 10 p.m.

Three gunmen got out of an SUV and shot at another group. The driver was shot in the head and is in critical condition.

The scene is a block away from the busy Arrott stop on the El and a SEPTA bus stop.

“Right at the corner of Arrott and Griscom is a SEPTA bus loop,” said Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. “You have SEPTA buses, and there’s also steps leading up to Frankford Avenue and Arrott a half-block away to get on the El. So we know it’s always heavily traveled by pedestrians, buses and the El and people waiting to get on.”

Police believe all three people who were injured were also the shooters. They were arrested.

Police are interviewing a fourth man who has a license to carry. He told authorities he fired his gun in self-defense.
