PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police have arrested a 55-year-old man whom they say stabbed an Uber driver in a South Philadelphia Wawa parking lot in February.
Walter Robbins is accused of stabbing Roger Segal, 50, in the Wawa parking lot at Columbus Boulevard and Tasker Avenue near the I-95 southbound on-ramp.
The killing happened early Valentine’s Day morning.
Sources say Robbins was panhandling in the parking lot, spotted Segal in his black SUV, went back to his van, moved it, came back around and eventually tried to rob Segal, stabbing him once in the midsection.
Police were called out a short time later and rushed Segal to the hospital, where he died.
Surveillance video showed that the victim was spotted inside Wawa around 1:30 a.m. Authorities believe he may have been attacked about an hour later.
Robbins is charged with murder, robbery, and a weapons offense. He remains in prison.
