DeCamara's Week 11 NFL takes: Walks back 'some' Hurts criticism, Eagles top 4 team
After watching some of the quarterback performances around the NFL in Week 11 yesterday, Jon Ritchie was hoping Joe DeCamara would walk back some of his criticisms of Jalen Hurts.
"Jalen's stretch of barely turning it over is awesome," DeCamara admitted on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show. "Jalen has been much more judicious with the ball and it has made a tremendous difference.
"Should I back off some of my criticism of Jalen? Sure, some of it. Some of it," DeCamara admitted. "It is eye opening watching all of the other games...I see other quarterbacks turning it over at a rate that obviously is different than Jalen did. So I will tell you he deserves tremendous credit."
Hurts has just one turnover in his last six games, a major catalyst sparking Philadelphia's six game winning streak.
After the Eagles' win on Thursday Night Football over the Commanders, DeCamara admitted he is worried Hurts will hold the Eagles back.
"Then you get to Jalen and you know the reality is he is just, to a large degree, struggling," DeCamara said on Friday's 94WIP Morning Show. "He did again last night...He is either going to lead them to a Super Bowl, option two they are going to win a Super Bowl dragging him across the finish line...or option three is that—and this what I really, really, really hope doesn't happen—that Jalen Hurts holds back a team where so many parts of it are ready to go win the Super Bowl."
After watching some of the other teams around the league on Sunday, DeCamara now says the Eagles are a top four team in the NFL.
"The biggest thing that stood out to me yesterday is team greatness is starting to come into focus," he said. "In the AFC it's the Chiefs and the Bills, whatever order you want to put them. In the NFC, it's the Eagles and Lions. That's what it is."
