Jerry Jones likes where his team is at, but he knows a tall task awaits them Sunday night.
The Cowboys are 4-1 through five weeks of the season, and are set to face the league’s lone undefeated team, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Sunday Night Football in Week 6.
It’ll be a great measuring stick game for the Cowboys, whose four wins this season have come with backup quarterback Cooper Rush behind center. However, they’ve yet to face a team as complete as the Eagles, and their lone loss was against a quality team in the Bucs.
During his weekly appearance on “Shan & RJ”, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones raved about Hurts and the Eagles.
“I’m so impressed with the way Philadelphia has evolved and gotten where they are," Jones said. "That is going to be a real challenge for us up there. They’ve got the goods. So we’re going up there Sunday, and what is exciting is, I don’t know when I’ve felt any better about going into the Philadelphia area -- even though they’ve got one of their best teams they’ve had in years. ...
“I think (Hurts) has really refined, I’m not going to say improved, technically, because I don’t look at him every day, but he’s refined the criticism coming out was he might not have had the best passing touch or he didn’t play to throw as opposed to play to run. Well, I think that was short-sighted. He can really make the throwing part of his game an emphasis. He’s one of the strongest players that I’ve ever seen.”
It’s possible the Cowboys will get Dak Prescott back in time for Sunday’s game, however Jones did not give a concrete timeline on the quarterback Tuesday.
