Josh Sweat is coming off an 11.0 sack season, but the 26-year-old defensive end rarely comes up when people discuss the talented reigning NFC Champions.
From a three-time Pro Bowl Eagles defensive end in Hugh Douglas to a one-time ascending Pro Bowler in Sweat, Douglas asked Sweat if he feels like he gets "lost in the sauce just a little bit?"
"Umm, a little bit I mean it's all about the role man," Sweat told Douglas and Glen Macnow (who was filling in for Joe Giglio on vacation) on Wednesday's 94WIP Midday Show. "Whatever plays I get or whatever playing time, I'm making the most of it. I already know, I'm just trying to outperform whatever playing time they give me, whatever it is. I'm just trying to ball. I know I can though, so I ain't really worried about it."
Douglas pressed Sweat and asked him what his goals for 2023 were.
"My goal every year is just get better," Sweat said. "It has to be above 11 [sacks]. I'm on a streak and I'm not breaking it. I just get more every year, every year. I haven't, in any stat, gotten less than the previous year."
The 2018 fourth-round pick out of Florida State isn't lying. Here are Sweat's sack totals year by year:
2018: 0
2019: 4.0
2020: 6.0
2021: 7.5
2022: 11.0
