Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen will have the call of the Philadelphia Phillies-Atlanta Braves NLDS on SportsRadio 94 WIP beginning Tuesday afternoon.
And as expected, LA isn't wasting any time having fun at Truist Park.
Prior to the 1993 NLCS between the Phillies and Braves, Andersen -- then 40 years old -- teased a group of young Braves fans at Fulton County Stadium:
29 years (and two stadiums) later, the two rivals are set to begin a postseason series tomorrow. And Andersen -- with the help of Gregg Murphy, Tom McCarthy, Scott Franzke and Oscar Budejen -- recreated the hilarious video, as captured by Destiny Lugardo of Phillies Nation:
The Phillies were underdogs in 1993, when they won the NL East with 97 wins, but the Braves won the NL West with 104 wins. Philadelphia would go on to win the 1993 NLCS in six games.
This time around, the Braves are once again the favorites, as the defending World Series Champions won their fifth consecutive NL East title with 101 wins. Meanwhile, with a much larger postseason field than in 1993, the 2022 Phillies snuck in as the final Wild Card winner with 87 wins. But as they learned by sweeping the St. Lous Cardinals in the NLWCS, anything can happen in a short series.
