Ray Didinger: Cannot afford to lose that game, could hurt down the road
Ray Didinger says the Eagles' choke job at against the Falcons, despite it only being Week 2, could have negative affects on the Eagles' postseason situation down the road.
"'Oh it's just Week 2 of the season, it's a long season.' All that's true, but that is a game that if you're thinking about the postseason and going somewhere and doing something in January, this was a game that you could not afford to lose," Didinger said on Tuesday's 94WIP Morning Show. "Now especially in the manor in which they lost it. Now, you got a situation that's always a tough situation for any team. A short week, going out on the road. You're going to New Orleans to take on the highest scoring offense in the league and you're dragging the 32nd ranked defense behind you. That is not a good place to be."
The Saints, the Eagles' next opponent, are 2-0 averaging 405.5 yards (3rd) and 45.5 points (1st) per game. New Orleans is coming off a 44-19 beatdown of the Cowboys in Dallas.
Philadelphia will now have a short week to prepare and travel to New Orleans and are expected to be without A.J. Brown (hamstring) for at least another game.
