Heyman on Phillies' pursuit of Soto, Crochet and potentially trading Casty, Bohm

MLB reporter Jon Heyman joins 94WIP's Ike, Spike & Fritz

Jon Heyman says there are "five and a half" finalists for Juan Soto, calling the Phillies the "half."

"Five and a half finalists and they're the half," Heyman told Ike Reese, Spike Eskin and Jack Fritz on Thursday's 94WIP Afternoon Show. "As of a few hours ago, the five teams definitely in there have met with Juan Soto. My understanding is that the Phillies are intending to meet, but as of—I don't know late this morning—there has still not been a meeting set up. That doesn't mean they can't get him. I don't think there will be a deal until probably close to the Winter Meetings, which began December 9th...I'm not really sure."

Heyman adds the Phillies are reportedly looking to trade both Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm.

"The Phillies have been suggested to be intentionally looking at trades for Castellanos and Bohm," Heyman said. "Do they need to clear a spot for him in the lineup or salary? I'm not sure."

In a new piece for the New York Post on Friday, Heyman also lists the Phillies among the teams highly interested in White Sox starter Garrett Crochet.

ESPN's Buster Olney, who believes the Phillies with land a star this Winter, also mentioned Crochet—along with Alex Bregman—as potential fits for Philadelphia on Thursday's 94WIP Midday Show.
