A.C. Moore Closing All of Their Locations

Sad news to report crafters! A.C. Moore is closing all of their locations in the U.S., including their 5 Richmond area stores.

The first A.C. Moore opened in New Jersey in 1985 and the first Richmond location opened in 2012.

Chief executive officer of A.C. Moore, Anthony Piperno said in a statement, "Unfortunately, given the headwinds facing many retailers in today's environment, it made it very difficult for us to operate and compete on a national level."

Plans for closing specific stores will be posted on the chain's website. They have also stopped accepting online orders but will fulfill any previous orders placed.

Meanwhile, Michaels will take over the leases of 40 A.C. Moore stores and purchase a distribution facility and intellectual property from A.C. Moore. It it unknown at this time which A.C. Moore stores Michaels will take over.
