More often than not, lack of reliable tansportation prevents people from having a job or getting to job interviews. With the help of the ride share service Lyft, this might not be a problem for some anymore.
Lyft has announced that they will offer free rides to people headed to job interviews AND they'll also offer free rides for the first THREE WEEKS of employment!
Lyft calls this the Job Access Program and it will debut in 35 cities across the United States. The program offers the following:
- Rides to/from job training programs
- Rides to/from job interviews
- Rides to/from the first three weeks of employment
The company worked with 10 different organizations to create the program in an effort to make job transportation more accessable to underserved groups.
Organizations they worked with include:
- United Way and 211
- The USO
- Goodwill
- National Down Syndrome Society
- Year Up
- Generation
- #cut50 (Dream Corps)
- The Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth
- Upwardly Global
Lyft says that the program is "focused on communities that stand to benefit most from short-term transportation support, ranging from veterans to individuals with disabilities. Our nonprofit partners will play a vital role of connecting individuals in need with Lyft rides in 35+ markets across the U.S. and Canada."
