What Better Way to Prepare for Going Back to School Than Being Read to By Mitchell Tenpenny Himself?

Virtual Story Time With Your Favorite Country Superstars

There is no bigger Sunday scary feeling than the end of summer, which inevitably means the beginning of another school year. This year is a lot different, though, with many kids learning from home.

There is no more showing off your brand new back to school clothes and supplies, and no more excitedly catching up with friends in the hallway asking about their summer break before the bell rings. Now, it's waking up, putting on a clean shirt at the very least, and walking downstairs to log on and begin the school day.

School may look and feel different this year, but one thing that remains the same is the books and subjects being taught. Kids will still read all those classics and to help you get back into that "school" mindset, Country artist Mitchell Tenpenny took a break from writing and recording new music to read one of those classics, titled Heidi.

The story follows an orphaned girl as she travels to live with her bitter grandfather in the mountains. Her goodness and faith help soften the old man's heart and then a few years later, Heidi, is asked to move away again and become a companion for a wheel-chair bound girl. Heidi's friendship, patience, and kindness are all themes children can take away from the story as well as the idea of enjoying childhood and letting kids be kids. This is especially relevant today because even with all the uncertainty and anxiety over the virus and the upcoming school year, it is important to remember to let children just be children and enjoy this time at home.

At the end of the reading, Tenpenny gave a special reminder that you can snuggle up with your parents and finish the story together. There is no better bonding experience than reading together with your kids.
