A rare ginger seal pup is being shunned by his friends in the wild in new footage making the rounds online.
The Daily Mail shared photos and video (below) of a ginger fur seal pup spotted in the wild in Russia. It has orange coloring, blue eyes, and pink flippers, and it is absolutely precious. The seal is referred to as being "partial albino."
Biologist Vladimir Burkanov told the Daily Mail that the seal, whose nickname is The Ugly Duckling, hasn't become a total outcast but there are definitely signs that other seals are shunning it.
"This pup looks very well fed and was very active, so its mother clearly gave it plenty of milk," said Burkanov. "Other seals don't pay too much attention to it in a somewhat worrying manner, so something is not quite right with it. But it is not getting chased or bitten."
Luckily, if the seal is rejected by its friends, wildlife specialists are ready to swoop in and rescue it so it can live at a sanctuary.
