After undergoing surgery to correct medialization in his vocal cords in June 2022, the rocker shares he is still undergoing vocal therapy. While his hopes of hitting the road again someday are high, he’s keeping his expectations even higher.
“It’s a range of emotions on a daily basis,” Bon Jovi told Variety of his daily vocal therapy sessions. “Yesterday was unbelievable. And today was less than perfection. It’s frustrating. I know that none of us can achieve perfection, but I have to achieve excellence in order for me to do it [touring] on that level again, or I won’t.”
He then shared the earliest he would hit the road for a full-production tour would be 2025, but makes no promises. “I don’t want to pretend to be something I was,” he expressed. “I don’t try to be that boy from 29 years ago, but I want to be the very best version of the 2024 version of me.”
While the future remains uncertain, during a recent appearance on Smartless podcast, JBJ assured fans he is doing everything in his power to rock another tour.
“I’ve been diligent in my recovery and hoping that everything is gonna be alright,” he said before adding, “[but] if I’m not great, I’m not going.”
