Halloween is officially over, which means all the attention is now on Thanksgiving. (Though don't tell that to the old lady down the street who's already hanging her Christmas lights.)
As people transition to the next major fall holiday, many are already starting to get their menu ready for the big day. Luckily for those that aren’t sure what their guests may want to eat, a viral map has been created that reveals each state’s favorite Thanksgiving side dish.

The map was created by career resource website, Zippia, who used data from Google trends to find each state’s preferred side choice.
As ascertained from the map, the top choice overall was a classic -- mashed potatoes.
Of course, some states had some odd picks for favorites as well. According to The Takeout, the top pick for Alaska was stuffed mushrooms; Texas prefered cream corn; while Delaware went with mashed cauliflower potatoes.
Mostly liberal New York State went for the sweetly traditional sweet potatoes with marshmallows; while conservative Missouri prefers a fancy charcuterie tray; South Carolina and neighbor Georgia agree on collard greens as their fave; and there's even more agreement between a huge swath of the west coast, where California, Nevada, Arizona, and Oregon all want their mashed potatoes.
Otherwise, there's a pretty wide spectrum across our fair land -- we are a melting pot after all.
While not everyone agrees on their favorite dish, at least with this map offers Thanksgiving dinner hosts a good guess on how to please the palate of a majority of their guests.
