“When I had a baby, I was like, ‘There’s nothing I can’t accomplish!’” She said. “It’s like the hardest thing I’ve ever done and now it’s like everything is easy, piece of cake, let’s rock!”
While Trainor discovered new-found strength, she struggled with others telling her that since she had a child, her career would be over.
“I was told by industry people — this is dark, I’ve never mentioned this. I was writing for JLo and I was like, ‘How come her song isn’t #1 all over the world? How come it’s just no so easy for her? She’s worked her whole life for this,” Meghan questioned.
“Some man told me, ‘Because she’s a mom. People don’t care.’ I was like, ‘You’re the worst part of my movie right now! This is the dark part!’”
Overcoming the naysayers hasn’t always been easy for Trainor, but with a little help from some like-minded moms also in the spotlight, she’s found support and friendship. Hear Meghan talk about her mommy getaway with pals Hilary Duff and Ashley Tisdale as well as more about her life as a new mom and the toilet situation in her house on the newest episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat Podcast above.
