It’s been nearly a week since Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime performance, and while the only announcement (albeit a big one) she debuted that night was a burgeoning baby bump, we now know her thoughts on the probability and inevitability of new music heading our way this year.

Prior to last year's, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack contributions that included the Oscar nominated “Lift Me Up,” it had been years since we heard something new from Rihanna. Little did we know that was the start of a crawling comeback that would culminate at the Super Bowl. Now that Rihanna’s on the brain (not that she ever isn’t), even she admitted that not releasing new music would be absurd.

“I want it to be this year,” she told British Vogue of her next album in a new cover story. “Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year.” And to that we say — agreed.

As she’s hinted at in the years since Anti’s 2016 release, Rihanna's consistently recording music... just not releasing it. “Your taste changes, your vibe changes,” she explained.

Rihanna also admitted that her absence from the music scene is due to the precedent she set with Anti, which she called her "most brilliant album" yet. "There's this pressure that I put on myself. That if it's not better than that then it is not even worth it,” she expressed.

However, as she also went on to share, “I realized that if I keep waiting until this feels right and perfect and better, maybe it's going to keep taking forever and maybe it'll never come out and no, I'm not down to that," she said. "So I want to play. And by play, I mean I have my ideas in my head, but I can't say them out loud yet."

Loving and living for all Rih said above, and on the slight chance she ever happens to see this, we’d like to close out with these final words — “please don’t stop the music,” like ever again.
