For quite some time, Adam Levine has used his body as a canvas, covering his chest and arms with tattoos. However, the Maroon 5 frontman still had one last area of blank space on one part of his body that needed to be covered.

This past weekend, the singer dedicated 13 hours of his day to get a detailed Japanese-design inspired tattooed onto his right leg, by tattoo artist Bill Canales.
The 42-year-old made sure to document his entire tattooing process and shared a black and white time-lapse video of the entire session on Instagram. Alongside the video, Levine wrote, “13 hours later…@billcanales.”
On Canales feed, there is a seven-minute version of the whole video where Levine is receiving his new ink. In this video can see the entire process, from the Sharpie guidelines to the final permanent piece. In the tattoo artist’s post, he refers to the superstar as a “true warrior to say the least.”
The 13-hour tattooing process was broken up into two full-day sessions. One fan commented on Canales' post, “So cool to be a fly on the wall and watch your process. Still don't understand how you work so fast. I need to see this in person."
Tattoo artist, Nathan Kostechko added, “incredible work Bill! Adam is stoked!" Kostechko and Levine have also worked together on tattoo designs in the past.
In March, Adam posted a video of Kostechko creating a large ocean wave design on his left leg. On the Instagram post, Levine captioned the video clip, “Day 3,” as Kostechko filled in some shading on his calf.
Levine is known for his signature tattoo look, with two full sleeves on each of his arms and over a dozen other designs across his entire body. In a 2013 interview with PEOPLE for his Sexiest Man Alive cover, the artist said, “Tattoos wind up being this strange road map or narrative over the years. They always remind me of this long, weird, awesome journey life has been."
