The fact that it’s actually been less that one year since Olivia Rodrigo became a household name for her hit single “drivers license,” and even less since she dropped her debut album SOUR, It’s really no shocker that she’s nabbed herself the title of Time Magazine's Entertainer of the Year.

Announcing the news via social, along with a photo of the 18-year-old star on the digital cover, the publication stated, "@oliviarodrigo is TIME’s 2021 Entertainer of the Year," before sharing a snippet of the article written by Lucy Feldman in the caption.
“Her songs have hit with audiences of all ages, in large part because she renders adolescence so viscerally: she’s resentful, seething, crushed, itching to just grow up already.”
Recapping her amazing year throughout the interview, Olivia counted all of her amazing blessing, but also shared the one main frustration that came along with it.
Earlier this year, Olivia faced backlash after songs from her debut album were compared to other works by artists such as Paramore and Taylor Swift, ultimately giving Swift, and her collaborators Jack Antonoff and St. Vincent songwriting on "Deja Vu" because of similarities to their work on "Cruel Summer," as well as Paramore's Hayley Williams and Joshua Farro on "Good 4 U.”
Though she’s vaguely spoken on the matter in the past, she’s now expressing her thoughts on how it affected her, explaining that, "It was really frustrating to see people discredit and deny my creativity.” While her producer Dan Nigro said, "It seems like people get funny about things when songs become really popular.”
However, despite the drama, Olivia isn’t concerned with dwelling on it. Going on to say that it was "a lesson in business.”
