The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) decided to change its definition of "Astronaut" just as the billionaire launched himself and a few friends into the great beyond to take some floating selfies and toss a ball around for a few minutes.

The FAA's Commerical Space Astronaut Wings Program now only awards those who have demonstrated activities during flight which are essential to public safety or have contributed to human space flight safety. Bezos and Blue Origin were expecting this, so they printed up their own wings... because billionaires, amirite?

"Ice-cold move to deny him, but also amazing that he can't buy the honor so he just made his own," Gregr says. "This 100% comes from a place of space jealous. Am I space jelly? Anyway...."

There’s a whole lot more beautiful nerdiness where this came from. Listen weekdays at noon on your favorite Audacy Alternative stations. Download the free app now to listen on the go!
