The 2023 BET Awards hosted a bracket style competition to determine who would take home the bragging rights of Hip-Hop's Greatest Rap Crew. After months of voting and dozens of matchups, it boiled down to a decision between Death Row and the Wu-Tang Clan.
Terrence J announced the results alongside podcasters T-Rell, who was representing for the west coast and Math Hoffa, who represented the east.
"Snoop Dogg and Tupac changed y'all lives... I can go all day," T-Rell said before Terrence J dropped the beat playing Tupac and Dr. Dre's "California Love," signaling that Death Row had won.
Founded by Suge Knight, Dick Griffey and Dr. Dre, the Death Row Family includes Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, Tha Dogg Pound, Warren G, DJ Quik, The Lady Of Rage, and others.
Snoop took to Instagram to celebrate winning “the championship to end all championships.”
“Thank you. @betawards,” the "Doggyland" rapper wrote. “Wow.”
Wu’s Method Man congratulated Snoop in his comments, writing "Well deserved!!"
