Jean-Claude Van Damme does not look back on his “Friends” guest role fondly.

In 1996, Van Damme appeared in an episode of the mega-popular sitcom where Courteney Cox’s Monica and Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel were vying for a date with the action star, who was portraying himself.

In conversation with the New York Post, Van Damme said it was his own fault he’s not high on the role.

“My acting is so bad. I look so like a ham. Like, ‘Hey, girls.’… It’s like, I’m ashamed of myself,” he told the publication. “So, then I was on the set, and those girls, they go, and they kiss me, and they kiss me on the lips. I didn’t know what to do, how to do… It was strange. They were very nice.”

Van Damme also revealed he wasn’t too familiar with “Friends” before making the cameo.

“So, when I go to the show, I see those two beautiful girls, and they say this is the hottest show right now in the world. So, I was very glad,” he said. “And my agent said, ‘You have to do an episode with them.”

While Van Damme isn’t the biggest fan of his appearance, he did say overall it “was a good memory.”

“Friends” aired from 1994-2004.
