Hire Heroes USA has received $500,000 to assist service members and their families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The donation is part of USAA’s Family Relief Initiative and will allow Hire Heroes USA to empower transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses as they search for their careers.
"As more military families experience unemployment and financial hardship, this donation will provide immediate aid and employment assistance,” said Hire Heroes USA CEO Ross Dickman in a release. “The trust and endorsement of our mission from USAA will positively impact thousands of military families during this difficult time."

According to research from the COVID-19 Military Support Initiative, 25 percent of active military families have been separated from their service member due to deployment or pandemic-supporting activations. Thirty percent of military spouses are expected to experience unemployment, nearly four times the level of their civilian peers.

“Providing this contribution to organizations such as Hire Heroes USA that share our mission to care for military families does double duty,” said USAA President and CEO Wayne Peacock. “It helps meet the needs of today’s military families and veterans. And it gives these organizations momentum to keep serving as a lifeline for the military community.”
