PHOTOS: Did you know the U.S. Army owns a T. Rex? See it at the Smithsonian

The Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History reopened its fossil hall "Deep Time" on June 8, 2019 with more than 700 fossil specimens— with an important exhibit on loan from the U.S. Army.
"The Nation's T.Rex" is the centerpiece of the museum's new 31,000-square-foot dinosaur and fossil hall, and — at 38 feet long and 7 tons — we couldn't really imagine it being anything but.
"The Nation's T. Rex" — which is actually one of two T. Rex's owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers — was discovered by Kathy and Tom Wankel while fishing near the Nelson Creek Recreation Area at Fort Peck Reservoir, Mont. Now, the exhibit is on a 50-year loan to the Smithsonian where an estimated 8 million visitors can see it every year.
