Billboards seek to aid veterans with reproductive healthcare

Billboards reading ‘We’ve Got Your Six’ aim to connect veterans and their families with reproductive health support.

The Brigid Alliance

Billboards aiming to connect veterans and their families with reproductive health support have been placed near Department of Veterans Affairs clinics in Georgia, New Mexico, and Virginia.

The billboards, reading "We’ve got Your Six,” were placed by The Brigid Alliance in partnership with the Vet Voice Foundation in response to the Trump administration’s rule ending abortion counseling entirely and abortion care for veterans who have been raped or whose pregnancy is threatening their health.

“The VA’s new policy strips veterans of access to essential reproductive health care and leaves many with no option but to travel long distances or go without care altogether,” Serra Sippel, Executive Director of The Brigid Alliance, said.

According to Sippel, 80 percent of The Brigid Alliance's clients last year were veterans, military members, or their families.

"Our courageous veterans should not have to be left navigating confusing and often dangerous barriers like shifting laws, inconsistent information, and growing legal risk just to get the health care they need,” she said. “This campaign is about making sure they know they’re not alone in doing so. If this administration won’t show up for them, we will.”

The billboards went up near the Atlanta VA Medical Center, the Las Cruces VA Clinic, and in Hampton Roads/Norfolk near the Hampton VA Medical Center.

It is unacceptable that veterans can access fewer reproductive health services through the VA than people in federal custody,” Janessa Goldbeck, Marine Corps veteran and CEO of Vet Voice Foundation, said. “That is not what service earns, and it is not how a country should treat those who wore the uniform. This campaign is about making sure veterans know someone still has their back, with real support, not just words.”

The billboards also direct viewers to logistical support – including travel, lodging, and other assistance – for those seeking abortion and other reproductive health care.
