Each year, our community comes together to provide toys and the ingredients for a full holiday dinner for local families, reaching more than 2,000 children. Families receive their choice of a turkey, ham, or chicken, a sack of potatoes, and all the holiday fixings--so they can prepare and enjoy a special meal together at home.
Our goal is for every child to receive at least three toys--which means we need more than 6,000 toys just to meet that minimum. Every additional rider, donor, and volunteer can make a real difference.
Last year, we counted 1,235 motorcycles participating in the Toy Run, and in some years we've welcomed as many as 2,000 bikes. Riders gather at the Eric Rood Administrative Center in Nevada City before a noon procession through Nevada City and Grass Valley to the Nevada County Fairgrounds, where families receive toys and food for their holiday meal. It's a powerful example of the motorcycle community and our neighbors showing up for local kids.
