Cobain’s guitar and other Cobain personal items will be displayed at a press preview at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills. The Nirvana frontman’s 1969 Fender Mustang is a left-handed guitar, which sports a Competition Lake Placid blue finish with a matching headstock. The guitar is expected to go for $600,000 to $800,000 at auction.
With Mental Health Awareness Month coming up in May, a portion of the proceeds from the auction of Cobain’s items will go to Kicking The Stigma, the Indianapolis Colts and Jim Irsay’s family initiative to raise awareness about mental health disorders and remove the stigmas that come with discussing mental health.
The Music Icons: Julien’s Auctions will host a preview in Beverly Hills before a three-day public auction event at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City from Friday, May 20 to Sunday, May 22. The auction will include music memorabilia from Cobain as well as from artists such as The Beatles, Eddie Van Halen, QUEEN, Elvis Presley, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Little Richard, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Erica Clapton, Cher, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix and more.
The auction can also be viewed at juliensauctions.com.
