The Eagles -- Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill, and Deacon Frey -- have officially hit the road one last time, visiting fans across the U.S. on their Long Goodbye Tour with Steely Dan. During their opening night at New York City's Madison Square Garden, the band started off the night with their cover of Steve Young's "Seven Bridges Road," before diving right into their beloved catalog, even sprinkling in a few Joe Walsh solo songs.
Singer Don Henley admitted from the stage the band had been through a "rough six weeks," following the passing of Eagles co-founder Randy Meisner, adding he was an "incredible musician" and an "amazing singing voice," before dedicating their track "Take It to the Limit" to him. Another major highlight of the evening was the band's double-shot of Jimmy Buffett covers -- "Come Monday" and "Fins" -- in honor of his passing earlier this week -- with Joe Walsh wearing a parrot hat in solidarity with his "Parrot Heads" fanbase.
"Jimmy and I got thrown out of some of the finest hotels in the world," Walsh told the crowd. "Jimmy Buffett is now sailing on that cosmic ocean, having that cheeseburger with Glenn [Frey] and Randy," Henley added. "We always liked to laugh and say we survived the '70s together."
