A man in North Highlands reportedly held a baby by knifepoint and then lit an apartment on fire while they were inside.
According to Fox 40, Metro Fire arrived at the Alder Grove apartments on Madison Avenue where the tragic incident occurred. Deputies say that the man started the fire when deputies located him.
Metro Fire says that when they arrived, the man was no longer holding a knife to the baby and they were able to rescue both individuals along with a woman and older child that were also inside the burning apartment.
Fox 40 refers to the man as "the father," who officials say is now in custody.
