The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine has received its blessing from the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup, ABC 10 reports.
California, as well as Oregon, Washington, and Nevada, have authorized the use of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine following the FDA and CDC's initial authorization.
Unlike the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, this latest one requires only one dose and doesn't have as complex of refrigeration requirements. It appears to be 66% effective at preventing moderate-to-severe COVID-19 cases compared to Moderna and Pfizer's ~95%, but appears to be 100% effective at preventing hospitalizations and deaths.
