It's easy to pick up a pumpkin while you're shopping at Trader Joe's or Target, but that's hardly a special experience. I mean, it definitely doesn't compare to riding this train through the redwoods to visit a secluded pumpkin patch.

The Pumpkin Express Train, operated by the Skunk Train in Fort Bragg and Willits, takes you on an enchanting ride through Northern California's redwoods to pick out a pumpkin.

Rides for this particular experience will run on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays beginning October 1. It will also run on Halloween, which falls on a Monday this year.

The Skunk Train has a few different ticket pricing options. Basic tickets ate $59.95 per seat and VIP tickets are $94.95. What I absolutely love is that the train is dog-friendly; dogs don't ride free, but the dog tickets are only $10.95.
