Spartan fans have been given an early Christmas gift.
Michigan State football announced Thursday morning the team will be wearing new helmets for Saturday's game against Penn State. And not just any new helmets -- the Gruff Sparty helmets fans have been begging for.
The Twitter account said it best, "You're Welcome."
Michigan State has made a point of honoring its past under first-year head coach Mel Tucker. The Gruff Sparty logo dates back several decades, and earlier this season the Spartans wore another unique helmet to honor former head coach George Perles.
Now they'll try to close the season in style.
