Turns out Trayce Thompson is a Splash Brother, too.

The Giants and Dodgers played another instant classic on Thursday night in front of a national audience on ESPN. Klay Thompson’s brother, Dodgers outfielder Trayce, played a key role in the thrilling 9-6 win at Chavez Ravine, hitting a game-tying triple in the eighth inning.

Afterwards, Klay sent out a very apropos tweet.

Facts.

Klay, 32, has made a career out of splashing triples for the Golden State Warriors. Trayce, 31, has been something of an MLB journeyman, playing for five different teams since 2015. At one point, the Thompson bros were work neighbors, as Trayce played in three games with the A’s in 2018 while the Warriors still played at Oracle Arena in Oakland.

It marked the fifth triple of Trayce’s career in 245 games. According to StatMuse, Klay has made at least five 3-pointers in a game on 117 different occasions in his career. As Eric Stephen of SB Nation joked, though, Klay has never matched Trayce’s “triple, double” feat Thursday night.

The game was a wild one, as the Giants Darin Ruf hit a grand slam, the Dodgers walked home a run and San Francisco took a 6-5 lead in the eighth after trailing 5-0 to start the game. Then Thompson tied it up before Mookie Betts blasted a game-winning three-run shot.

While the Bay might have been reeling, not Klay.

Trayce started out the season with the San Diego Padres before getting designated for assignment in June. About a month ago, the Dodgers acquired him from the Detroit Tigers, where he had signed a minor-league deal. In 22 games since, Trayce is slashing .276/.333/.500 with two homers and 11 RBIs.

At this rate, Klay might be able to cheer on Trayce for the rest of the season, as he appears to be carving out a role with the Dodgers.
