Once the calendar flips to 2021, it’ll have been 25 years since the following events.

Listen to your favorite music now on RADIO.COM.

The first version of Pokémon being released in Japan, Bill Clinton was re-elected for a second presidential term, Atlanta played home to the summer Olympics as the United States took home 101 medals, and Oprah began one of the most famous book clubs in the world.

There was also music. Lots of it.

On the surface, 1996 may not jump out right away, but there were plenty of great albums released that year. Once 2021 rolls around, albums released in 1996 will be celebrating their 25th anniversary and leave many of us befuddled at how it’s been that long.

Like we did earlier with 13 albums celebrating their 10th anniversary, here are 13 albums that turn 25 in 2021.

2Pac - All Eyez on Me

2Pac’s final album during his lifetime made history as the first double-length Hip Hop solo studio album to be released for mass consumption globally. The album has been certified Diamond with over five million copies sold since its release. It also featured guest appearances from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton, and many more.

LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn Rimes - Blue

25 years ago LeAnn Rimes established herself as one of Country music’s finest musicians with her debut album. Blue topped the Billboard Country charts and peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 chart.

Tool

Tool - Ænima

Tool’s second studio album has been hailed as one of the most influential rock and metal albums of all time. Certified triple platinum, Ænima features Tool staples such as “Stinkfist,” “Forty Six & 2,” and the title track.

Celine Dion

Celine Dion - Falling Into You

Dion’s album was her fourth English-language record and took home a GRAMMY for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album. It’s also one of the best-selling albums of all time and has sold over 11 million copies in the United States.

George Strait

George Strait - Blue Clear Sky

After releasing 15 albums in 13 years, George Strait opted to take a well deserved break. He made his return with his sixteenth studio album Blue Clear Sky, which has gone triple multi-platinum with sales of over three million copies.

Jay-Z

JAY-Z - Reasonable Doubt

It’s one of the greatest Hip Hop albums of all time and marked the introduction of JAY-Z to the world. His debut record has been certified platinum and featured guest appearances from the likes of The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and more.

Weezer

Weezer - Pinkerton

It debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200 chart, sold 47,000 copies in the first week, and was the subject of a lawsuit the day before its release. It’s also one of the most critically-acclaimed cult classic albums of all time and has continued to be a best-seller going platinum in 2016 nearly 20 years after its release.

Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow

The second studio album from Sheryl Crow is one of her best and features the hit songs “If It Makes You Happy,” “Everyday Is a Winding Road,” and “A Change Would Do You Good.” Sheryl Crow won a GRAMMY for Rock Album of the Year and Crow took home the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance award for “If It Makes You Happy.”

Beck

Beck - Odelay

It was the fifth album of Beck’s career, but serves as his breakthrough record and is considered to be one of the best albums of the 90’s. Odelay yielded the hit singles “Where It’s At,” and “Devils Haircut” with the former earning Beck a GRAMMY for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.

Backstreet Boys

Backstreet Boys - Backstreet Boys

Backstreet Boys is one of the biggest debut albums ever and one of the best-selling albums of all time with over 14 million copies sold. This version of the record marks the international release, with the American version being released in 1997. However, this album features many of the same tracks found on the American version marking the introduction of the Backstreet Boys to the world.

Aaliyah

Aaliyah - One in a Million

It’s one of the finest R&B albums as One in a Million has been certified triple platinum for over three million copies sold in the US. Aaliyah’s record featured six total singles and helped launch the careers of Missy Elliott and Timbaland, who were credited as producers.

Fiona Apple

Fiona Apple - Tidal

Fional Apple made her debut in 1996 as Tidal yielded six singles. “Criminal,” perhaps the best known song on the record, won a GRAMMY for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.

Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam - No Code

At the time of its release, No Code marked a bit of a departure from Pearl Jam’s traditional sound as it incorporated a wider source of sounds. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and featured the song “Present Tense,” which was the final song played during The Last Dance documentary.
