An old flame is new again.

John Corbett is back as Aidan Shaw, one of Carrie Bradshaw’s love interests on the original run of HBO’s “Sex and the City.” Corbett will be bringing the character back for the second season of that show’s sequel series on HBO Max, “And Just Like That...,” according to Deadline.

The report claims Corbett will have a “substantial, multi-episode arc on the second season, reprising his role as the likable furniture maker.”
During the original series, Corbett’s Aidan and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie broke up twice. The first time being when she cheated on him with the character Big (played by Chris Noth). Aidan and Carrie broke up the second and final time when she called off the couple’s engagement.
Aidan’s last appearance in the “Sex and the City” universe was in the series’s second full-length movie, “Sex and the City 2.”
Michale Patrick King, series creator and executive producer, previously spoke to Deadline about Aidan not being included in the first season of “And Just Like That…” “Ir really just felt like this was a lot for Carrie,” he said at the time. “This season was a lot. We wanted to get her through [Big’s death] and into the light–the last episode is called, ‘Seeing the Light.’ We wanted to get her out. [Aidan’s return] is a big storyline that everybody at home wrote that we never had intended.”
King then did go on not to rule out Aidan’s return.
Corbett has recently been seen in Netflix’s “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” and will reprise another of his roles, as Ian Miller in the upcoming “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3.”
